Science week - Birds

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 5 Year: 2014 - 2015

We had great fun during Science week and found out so much about birds that we didn't already know!

In year 5 we focused on the beautiful book 'Robot and the bluebird'. We split into groups to research one of the five areas: robot materials, migration, electrics for robots, weather and flying.  We then presented as a group in two minutes to the rest of the class.

We also created our own bird designs, decopaged bird houses, made paper birds and learned how to make origami birds with the help of Mrs Mercer and Tyler!

Homework resulted in lots of fun. We loved listening to each other's bird writing, guessing which three facts were false that were hidden within the writing! Some false facts were subtle, some very obvious! We found out lots about robins, flamingoes, lovebirds, penguins, blue tits and lots more birds. One true fact that we all loved was Ellie's: a group of flamingoes are called a stand of flamingoes.

I have included some photos of this homework below.
