Year 2 were due to go to Holy Trinity for a Easter Experience this week. In place of our trip, Reverend Tina has created a series of videos for you to enjoy at home. Click the link below to watch the Easter Experience. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8tmH5KoepPGQboyLGR2avCTY_liZmW4b

Mrs Coyne, Ms Greatorex and Mr Howarth have loved working with you so far in Year 2 and look forward to the time when we are back in school together. We hope that you can make good use of the online portal at this time and take some time to read with your adults.

Before we started working from home, our learning was based on our over arching questions for for Key Stage 1: 'Where do you belong?' and 'Way up high, way down low, which way do you want to go?'. These ran through our learning and were woven into our Art, World Knowledge, D.T and R.E.

The Spring term's  context for learning within our vision was ‘The Legacy of Adventure’ - Myths, Mysteries and Marvels. We focussed on the marvels element and examined the great inventions of the Victorian era. We looked back to the Victorian times in World Knowledge and explored what makes a good historian by examining real artefacts.

We are committed to engendering a love of reading and now have access to Oxford Owl resources online. Your details will be sent to you via class dojo.

Before we left school we began the Story Box approach, which children first encountered in Early Years, which is drama-rich and engages leaners through provocations, requiring deep thinking, with a focus on raising the profile of oracy.

There is a new approach to homework this year. We have created a homework menu with a range of tasks from across the curriculum. You can choose any tasks to complete and can present them in your chosen way. We just ask that children complete a minimum of 4 per half term. Thank you for the fantastic pieces of work which you have created so far. We will continue to celebrate these in class.

Alongside this we will set homework alternatively on www.spag.com and www.mathletics.co.uk

Logins will be stuck into reading diaries and homework books.

Things to remember in year 2:

  • P.E Mondays and Fridays with Mr Forbes
  • Spelling Test on Friday
  • Homework set on Friday and due in on Wednesday
  • Five reads due in on Friday
