Anti-bullying Ambassadors

SPRING TERM  2018

Our main Anti Bullying initiatives this term are based around the 40 Acts challenge, which is a challenge initiated by Stewardship and Scripture Union, and was suggested by a parent at our school. 40 acts is a generosity challenge which invites people to do Lent a bit differently. Each class will have a set of challenge cards which will be used to encourage small acts of generosity and kindness towards others. Our Anti Bullying Ambassadors will be facilitating some of the challenges, helping to lead an assembly and collecting photos and pupil voice comments to share. We believe that small acts of generosity can have the power to make a big change to our communities and, ultimately, to our world. The project also supports the core British value of respect to others. to find out more go to:  https://40acts.org.uk/

Our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors will continue to support and befriend children in class and at break times this term. One of their first tasks this year will be to choose and train two new Buddies from Year 2 and then together work out a programme of events and projects for the coming year. We aim to have a special event or focus each month, which the ABAs introduce to the whole school in assembly.  Children who need support and advice can speak in confidence to our Ambassadors or with Mrs Tynegate and Mrs McFetridge. There is also a very helpful section on the website www.antibullyingpro.com  under "support".

The parents and guardians section of the Anti-Bullying website gives lots of important and relevant advice:  http://www.antibullyingpro.com/parentsguardians There is also helpful advice on the netmums site, which you can access through the anti-bullyingpro.com parents pages and on http://www.childline.org.uk/Explore/Bullying/Pages/Bullying.aspx

The whole school takes part in activities during Anti-bullying week. This year the Anti Bullying Week is 13th - 17th NOVEMBER and the theme will be "All different, all equal". The Ambassadors work with each class to help them understand how to make positive choices and look after each other. It is always great to see some of our younger Ambassadors leading activities with older children.
