Year 5 RE day

Lesson: Religious education

Class: Year 5 Year: 2016 - 2017

We enjoyed an RE day on Thursday when we had an action packed day learning about Islam and Christianity.

We watched a video clip of Oman visiting Mecca and learnt about life in the day of a Muslim boy as well as understanding the five pillars of Islam.  We discussed prayers in the mosque and year 5 are looking forward to their visit to the mosque next year to observe Islam prayers.

Later on, we learned about the Christian festival of Christmas starting with advent.  Following on, we watched an entertaining clip of puppets in the retelling if the nativity story according to Luke and Matthew and compared the two versions. 

We are very much looking forward to making our Christingles on Thursday with Nursery in preparation for the service on Friday morning at Holy Trinity Church.
