Happiness Heroes (Anti-bullying Ambassadors)

Celebrating our year...

This academic year the happiness heroes and anti-bullying ambassadors amalgamated and have worked together. Throughout the year, we have continued to play an active and visible role in promoting emotional wellbeing, inclusion, and pupil voice across the school. In addition, we have helped to build strong intergenerational connections within our wider community. Below is a summary of our activities and impact across the year:

Autumn Term

  • Supported the national Anti-Bullying Week, leading awareness activities aligned with this year’s theme.
  • Organised and delivered Christmas cards to residents at Deva Point, our local supported living community.
  • Participated in a visit to Deva Point to sing Christmas carols, creating a joyful and meaningful experience for both residents and pupils

Spring Term

  • Hosted table-top games in school with Deva Point residents, building ongoing intergenerational relationships.
  • Performed the school song during the visit, fostering a sense of shared community and celebration

Summer Term

  • Took part in a dual celebration marking the 10th anniversary of Deva Point and the 80th anniversary of VE Day, including singing wartime songs and engaging with local civic guests such as the High Sheriff of Chester.
  • Children continued to wear their identification badges and remained visible and available to support peers on the playground, especially around the Friendship Stop, where we encourage inclusivity and positive social interaction.
  • Led a whole-school assembly during Mental Health Week, helping pupils understand emotional regulation and how to find their "happy place"

Impact and Outcomes

  • Strengthened links with the local community, particularly through sustained engagement with Deva Point. This has provided meaningful intergenerational learning opportunities and enhanced pupils' empathy and social awareness.
  • Contributed to a positive and supportive school culture, where pupils increasingly look out for one another, particularly during unstructured times.
  • Supported the school’s work on pupil wellbeing, behaviour, and inclusion through visible leadership, peer mentoring, and mental health education.
  • Provided leadership opportunities for pupils, allowing them to develop confidence, communication, and responsibility in real-life contexts.

We are pleased to report that this initiative will continue into the next academic year. A further event is already scheduled for 18th September 2025, where pupils will host garden games and a mini sports day with the residents of Deva Point.
