Highfield Young Governors
Celebrating our year...
What have we done this year?
The pledge of the Young Governors this academic year was to improve the visibility of what we do at Highfield beyond the school walls to our families and the wider community.
First, they suggested we create short videos of the ‘Highfield Happy News’ to be published on Dojo demonstrating the highlights of each term. They collected the views of their classmates to include in the videos.
These clips have been shared on Dojo, with 162 views for the first film and 172 views for the second.
Secondly, alongside the Happiness Heroes, they became involved in establishing relationships with the residents of Deva Point, first visiting them as part of our festive celebrations to deliver Christmas cards, then inviting them to a board games event in school.
One of our Young Governors reflected, “My favourite part of being a young governor is being able to make the school a better place, meeting the people of Deva Pont, and going to meetings.” Another said, “We just make people happier and give them some company.”
What impact have we had?
When asked how he would like to change school, one Young Governor said, “I can’t; it’s the best it can be.”
