Celebrating our year:
Our sports ambassadors, along with our sports crew have played an important role in the running, developing and monitoring of sport and PE provision within school.
Our ambassadors worked alongside our sports crew providing suggestions to questions for a whole school survey to support how best to provide PE and what would sports they would like to be delivered as well as canvasing opinions from all children about the running and organising of sport and PE.
From this data, we then decided to lead a drive to encourage healthier choices in how children got to school. For this, we opted into 'The Sustran’s Big walk and wheel’ initiative. The Sports Crew helped to advertise this through assembly, advertising on dojo and sticking up posters around the school. Each pair then were given the responsibility to collect that information each day and bring it to be collated.
Sports Ambassadors also played a vital role: first participating in leadership training in Autumn and then using this to facilitate more movement on the playground.
In the Spring term, sports ambassadors led a ‘1 minute challenge’ at break times where they encouraged all children to participate in a different 1-minute challenge such a plank, mountain climbers, speed bounces, press ups etc. They led this independently encouraging and motivating movement from many children on the playground.
In the summer term, they have supported whole school events helping to run National sports week involving themselves in leading the assembly at the start of the week and promoting 5 minute moves each morning as well as supporting the running of EYFS sports day.
